According to a Polish company that supplied its account and photographs to Potatoes.News, Polish potato varieties Magnolia, Stokrotka and Tonacja were presented to visitors at an international potato event in Naivasha, Kenya. The photographs show labelled potato samples and conversations at an exhibition stand. The company describes interest from Kenyan growers in varieties that could be evaluated for local conditions.
Three Polish varieties in the spotlight
Magnolia, Stokrotka and Tonacja are names found in Polish potato variety and commercial reference materials. Their presentation offers a starting point for discussions on seed supply, table-potato quality and future varietal evaluations. The labels visible in the photographs identify the samples; they do not independently establish that the varieties are already registered, trialled or commercially cultivated in Kenya.

Kenyan performance still needs local evidence
Kenyan potato growers face variable rainfall, water constraints and a range of crop health challenges. A promising variety in one environment is not automatically suitable for another. Before any of the named varieties can be recommended for drought-prone production areas, independent trials should examine emergence, maturity, yield stability, marketable tuber fraction, irrigation requirements, culinary properties and susceptibility to locally relevant diseases.
Potatoes.News has not independently verified multi-location Kenyan trials, seed-import volumes, local variety registration or commercial production of Magnolia, Stokrotka and Tonacja. The report of their presentation and the photographs are attributed to the Polish company.
A possible next step for Polish–Kenyan cooperation
Discussions between breeders, local seed multipliers, researchers and growers could lead to structured variety evaluations. Success should be measured through replicated field data and phytosanitary compliance, rather than by extrapolating performance from European catalogues. The interest described by the Polish company is encouraging, but a resilient seed system depends on documented agronomic results.
